There were forty-eight entries and only twenty-four where selected for the exhibition displayed together with the work of the faculties.

This artwork is part of the International Museum of calligraphy in Moscow, Russia. It will become the first stage of a new program in the context of the III International Exhibition of Calligraphy in Velikiy Novgorod.
The second stage presupposes the exhibit and presentation to be organized at the UNESCO headquarters (Paris, France). The world premiere in Paris is planned to be the climax of the project promotion at the international level.

The essence of the new concept manifests the ability of calligraphy to emphasize the national and cultural diversity and spiritual and moral unity of the contemporary society. the works of 110 calligraphers coming from 40 countries will be exhibited in Novgorod.

In October 2007 together with two friend artists, Nadine Youssefian and Diana Goransky, we exhibited in the 7th Art Fair in Argentina, Expotrastiendas, which took place in the exposition centre in Figueroa Alcorta and Pueyrredon streets. More than 150 Art Galleries took part and we represented Atica Art Gallery from Recoleta.

In 2007 the International Contest of Calligraphy took place, responding to our World with a jury integrated by Thomas Ingmire and Maureen Squire (outstanding American calligraphers) and Julienne Richardson, Head of Guilford Art Center Mill Gallery, CT, New York. This was the place where the exhibition of the selected works took place.

 

Monica Dengo, Carl Kurtz and Eliza Holliday got the first prize. I got a mention for my work “What’s essential is invisible”. The three works which had been sent were acquired by American collectors.

In June 2007 I held an exhibition organized by Sofia Viola in Greenwich, Connecticut, USA. The exhibition consisted mainly of artists’ books and works on paper. Many of them were acquired by American collectors.

In May 2007 a joint exhibition called “WORDS” was held. It was organized by the head office of the school of Architecture, Design and City Planning of Buenos Aires. This exhibition summoned calligraphers, typographers, graphic designers and students. It took place in Ciudad Universitaria. (Sala Baliero, Pabellón 3). One of my works was given to the head office of FADU.

In 2006 I held an exhibition called “When words turn into image” in Atica, run by Monica Carricarte. I exhibited around 25 works of calligraphy on paper and canvas, as well as an artist book, glass objects and jewellery. In 2006 the International Calligraphy Contest Words & Art took place in the Folk Art Center in Blue Ridge Parkway, near Asheville, North Carolina, USA. The exposition was cosponsored by CLAS, (Carolina Lettering Arts Society) and Southern Highland Craft Guild (SHCG). The book I sent for such an event was acquired by Annie Cicale, outstanding American calligrapher.

Calligraphy Prize Catalunya Argiles and Solá
Barcelona, España.

The Calligraphy prize Catalunya Argiles y Sola is an International calligraphy competition which takes place every year in Barcelona, Spain. I took part in for three running years until in 2005 it was limited to the Catalonian society. In 2002 I was selected, in 2003 I got the 2nd mention and in 2004 the first one. The work from the latter was used as the image in invitations and catalogues, and was acquired by the collector Antoni Argiles. In all the cases, the selected works were exhibited in Barcelona.

In 2004, the Cruz del Sur Calligraphers mounted its annual exhibition “Journeys” at Jorge Newbery airport in Buenos Aires. It included more than 40 works of calligraphy on paper and canvas. Calligraphic books and calligraphy on glass, jewellery and marble were also exhibited.

In 2003 the Cruz del Sur Calligraphers held its annual exhibition of calligraphy “Outlining Sound” in this museum in the city of Rosario in Argentina. The exhibit was organized by the Visual Communication Institute and it consisted of more than 30 works on paper and canvas together with applied calligraphy on pottery, glass, marble, artist books and banners made of fabric. One of them was given to this institute as a present.

The opening day a lecture was given with slides about the evolution of calligraphy.

In 2002 on request by this University, the Cruz del Sur Calligraphers were invited to hold a series of events on applied calligraphy to design, a lecture about calligraphy in graphic design and a workshop on experimental calligraphy delivered by Fabian Sanguinetti and I.

Centro Cultural Recoleta

In 2001 the Cruz del Sur Calligraphers were invited by Typography magazine to participate in the first International Meeting of Typography for Real Life. We organized two exhibitions, one about scholarly calligraphy, where we displayed our work, and another one about spontaneous calligraphy, where we showed through photographs, writing in public thoroughfare. This exhibition took place in Centro Cultural Recoleta.

Apart from the exhibit, the Cruz del Sur Calligraphers gave a workshop of experimental calligraphy in the Sheraton Hotel in Buenos Aires.

Calligraphic Enigma

In 2001 Calligraphic Enigma took place. The selected works in this international contest were exhibited in the Guilford Arts Center Mill Gallery in Connecticut, USA. The exhibit included calligraphic works from the different continents and it was organized by Maureen Squire, Guilford Handcraft Center and Letter Arts Review. Ewan Clayton and Jerry Kelly was the jury.

The exhibit included a variety of works on paper, a glass cabinet with applied calligraphy to graphic design and a series of banners as well as a historic picture.

Cordero Vega and Witcel, and took place in Paper Point de Witcel at Centro Cultural Borges. This exhibition included a number of works from well known graphic designers, calligraphers, and a couple of samples of artistic calligraphy.
